Little "L" is One!!!

What an inquisitive little man! He was much less concerned with his photoshoot than trying to find a gadget to play with (or cake to eat!). Sounds like his poor Daddy - who was tricked into coming and having his photo taken ;) All of that said and done, we had a great time, wore ourselves out and let "L"s vibrant one-year-old personality shine!

Little E was absolutely a pro - She smiled, she slept, she stared wide-eyed and all with no fussing! We got together with them and her parents for a family photoshoot on a gorgeous day in Sevierville, TN. On days like that and with families like them there is no denying Eastern Tennessee is as close to Heaven as we can get!

What a sweet family! We met on a beautiful October evening, with the leaves turning and the smell of fall in the air! The children were so well behaved and absolutely charming - even the baby of the clan was a natural in front of the camera. I couldn't get him to stop smiling!

What a handsome family!!! I was lucky enough to meet and befriend Julie at a Lindsay Jane Studios photography workshop. We wound up being pregnant at the same time, so what better way to celebrate that than to share our passions and swap maternity photography sessions! Here is round 1 for her and her hubby. Expect more as she "fills" out :). They're going to be such a beautiful family!

Some Commercial Work

In the past two to three weeks, I had been asked to do some commercial photography for a very enterprising family!

The first set is a group of photos shot to advertise a new product being added to The Etiquette Factory's line up. Monica Irvine has created a fantastic etiquette curriculum for home school students, ages pre-k through the first year of college. In all actuality, we could ALL benefit from her lessons! Her latest product line involves tea parties for young ladies that not only teaches etiquette but allows a creative and delicious outlet for learning it!

The second shoot was for her husband, Charles', restaurant Sullivan's. They have three locations, one in Maryville and two in Knoxville. Let me tell you, the food is DELICIOUS! My husband and I can't get enough and the portions are just right! The restaurants have a great atmosphere and feature banquet rooms for your special occasions.

A Family Wedding!

My sister in law got married! I had the opportunity to fly out to the Salt Lake City, UT area to take photos of her exciting day! I must admit, it was a photoshoot quite unlike any I've done before - between apartment sewers backing up, multiple wedding parties coming out of the temple one after another, and reception schedules, we had very little time to get portratis of the beaming couple. However, I hope I captured and am able to showcase T & T's excitement and love. Congrats you two!!!

Rain or shine, we were going to get these pictures! Our first attempt was tornadoed out, and our second attempt was interrupted by rain! However, despite the wet grass and abundance of chiggers we managed to capture some sweet shots of this gorgeous family, her tummy full of a sweet little girl and her little toddler full of sweet candid moments! I love this family! Two years ago, I was able to photograph the G Family's first newborn. Not only were they first time parents, but that was my first time experimenting with an indoor "studio" set-up. They were so patient with me and we had so much fun, despite some surprises from their son! This time around, we all knew what to expect, making the shoot *nearly* snafoo free! Little E is precious and we really wore her out - her older brother wouldn't allow me to take any of the quiet, sleepy newborn pics, but E gave me the privilege at the end ;). Thank you, G Family, for letting me photograph such a short and special time of your children's lives!

H - A Celebration!

H, one of my giveaway winners, had a very exciting reason to have a photoshoot - in celebration of losing 101 pounds! Amazing! This woman is incredible and we had so much fun during her shoot, especially when she would whip out her "sassy" faces! We even got a photo with her BFF :). It was such a fun and celebratory time! A Baby for the "L" Family!

These two were so eager to get their maternity photos taken that they braved the chilly air, keeping their jackets near-by. I was so lucky to be able to participate in a very special day for a family in middle Tennessee - the finalization of the adoption of their baby girl! It was such a fun afternoon. I was able to "document" the day for their growing little family and I'm so grateful they allowed me to share in such a joyful moment in their lives!

An aspiring film maker, B has an eye for art and came well prepared for any situation. When I told him he could bring as many changes of clothes as he wanted and whatever props that make him who he is, he took me seriously! Seven wardrobe changes later, we got some amazing shots! I had a blast with J on a bright, sunny, WINDY spring day. We captured two sides of her - the sweet dainty J and the J with a dark side (which is funny because I'm pretty sure she doesn't actually have a dark side - she's so sweet!). She sat in water, was blinded by the sun, sat on a greasy railroad track and endured whistles from passers-by all in the name of art ;)

Soft-spoken, but with a hidden mischievous side, "C" took a little while to warm up. I don't think having pictures taken of himself was number one on his list of favorite things to do! "P" Turns One!!!

As soon as the snow melted after Christmas, we stole this little man out into the chilly air to get some quick shots for his first birthday. He was quite the trooper and so easy on the camera's eye - just like his Dad!

The "A" Family

I couldn't get enough of this family. Reason #1: They are good friends who I miss so much! Reason #2: Do you see how photogenic they are!? We had a great time wandering around downtown Franklin and found some beautiful places for photos. The two girls were chock full of energy, which made for great shots. Amazingly, mom and dad had just as much energy. What an incredible and beautiful family!

Getting all the children together one last time before one leaves for a mission and the other two leave town left us with one date to take photos: Christmas Eve. This handsome family pulled together during a very small window of free time to take family portraits and I'm so glad I got to be a part of it. Are they beautiful, or what?

I must admit - this shoot was tricky to get scheduled! Between the rain, the short amount of time the family would be together and my holiday shooting schedule, I didn't know if we would be able to pull it off. Luckily, we did! We found a great building on UT's campus that provided shelter from the rain the one day we could all coordinate schedules. I'm glad it worked out, because I had a blast shooting this family!

Bootcamp Results

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I was lucky enough to be able to attend a photography "bootcamp" put on by Lindsay Jane Studios. Lindsay is a FANTASTIC photographer and I jumped at the chance to learn from her. We spent our days learning the best methods of posing and the best ways to capture the light that makes the models shine. I have lots of practice I need to do to make it to her level, but I'm so excited to know how to reach my potential now! Here are some of my favorite images from our model shoot. Remember these two? Their infectious love, smiles and giggles? Well, they were every bit of that on their wedding day! I feel so blessed to have been a part of their big day. These two are so in love. On their wedding day, they didn't really care about anything but being together. When I tried to steal R away to get more bridal shots, she brought me in close and said, "Brianna, all I care about you've already photographed. All I really want are pictures of us together." AWWWW!!!! I wish these two the VERY best!

I decided it was time for my own family pictures again. I used to take photos of my husband and myself easily, but then baby came along and, well, it's not so easy anymore! So I called up and "hired" two high school girls I know as my photographers! I set up the shots and set up the camera, leaving one girl to be my "shutterbug" and the other to be the "prop-girl." All in all, I think it was a success!

I feel so lucky to have taken the photos of one of my favorite people in the world and her fiance, who I'm sure will prove to be equally as wonderful once I get to know him better! Their laughter, their smiles, and their love was so infectious. They just couldn't keep their hands to themselves and those pearly whites were on permanent display. I definitely count this as one of my favorite photo shoots - fitting, coming from one of my favorite people! I wish these two the absolute best in marriage!

This is for you folks who have an old family photo that needs some sprucing up or for those of you who accidentally rip a picture. The only rules are these:

1. If the photo is professionally done (a portrait), it must have been taken in 1923 or earlier in order for me to restore and reprint it because of copyright laws. If your photo is younger than that, you will need to get written consent for restoration and reprinting from the photographer/studio where the photo was originally taken.

2. Candid snapshots from any year, past or present, can be restored and reprinted with no repercussions.

This tool is especially useful for family history buffs, but accidents happen to anyone! Here are some examples:
